Knowing God's Mind: Trusting His Leadership and Wisdom

🌿 Memory Verse:

  - "But when they said, ‘Give us a king to lead us,’ this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. And the Lord told him: ‘Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king.’"
1 Samuel 8:6-7 (NIV).

📚Reading:
1 Samuel 8:9-20; Genesis 3:1-6.

❣️Introduction

Many times, believers struggle to understand God’s will because they rely on their own wisdom or desire worldly solutions. Just like Adam and Eve sought hidden knowledge and Israel demanded a king, we, too, are often tempted to move outside God’s plan. But Scripture shows that true wisdom comes through trusting in God completely.

I. The Israelites Seeking a King (1 Samuel 8:4-20).
- The people rejected God's direct rule and desired to be like other nations.
- They failed to see God as their King and sought human leadership instead.
- They trusted in worldly systems rather than God's divine governance.

🌟 Lesson
When believers desire worldly security over divine guidance, they risk missing God's best plans for them.

II. Adam and Eve Seeking Forbidden Knowledge (Genesis 3:1-6).
- Satan deceived Eve by suggesting she was missing something.
- Instead of trusting God’s perfect wisdom, Adam and Eve reached for what was off-limits.
- Their disobedience led to separation from God's presence.

🍁Lesson
When believers question God’s wisdom and seek worldly understanding outside His will, they fall into deception.

III. Biblical Warnings Against Seeking Outside God's Will
- Judges 8:22-23 – Gideon reminded Israel that God is their ruler.

- Hosea 8:4 – Israel appointed kings without God’s approval.

- Genesis 11:4-9 – The people of Babel sought to reach heaven through human effort, but God disrupted their plans.

Jeremiah 2:13 – Israel forsook God, the fountain of life, to pursue broken cisterns.

🎊 Reflection

  - Have you ever tried to force your way into something without consulting God? Have you ever felt tempted to seek knowledge in places contrary to His Word? This is a reminder that God’s wisdom surpasses ours, and trusting Him is the only way to walk in His perfect will.

IV. How Can Believers Know God's Mind?

1. Through His Word – Psalm 119:105
   - The Scriptures reveal God's thoughts and plans for us.

2. Through Prayer – Jeremiah 33:3
   - God invites us to ask Him for wisdom.

3. Through the Holy Spirit – John 16:13.
   - The Spirit of God leads and convicts believers.

4. Through Obedience – Romans 12:2.
   - A renewed mind helps believers discern God's will.

🌄 Call to Action (CTA):
  - Are you truly seeking God’s wisdom in your life?
- Are you trusting Him as your King, or relying on worldly solutions?
- Decide today to surrender to His leadership, seek His Word, and follow His Spirit.

🔥 Closing Prayer:
  - Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, acknowledging that You alone are the source of all wisdom and truth. Forgive us for the times we have relied on our own understanding or sought answers outside of Your will. Teach us to trust You completely, to surrender to Your leadership, and to walk according to Your Word. Help us to discern Your mind through prayer, the Holy Spirit, and obedience. May we never forsake You for worldly wisdom. We commit our lives to You, and we declare that You alone are King over us. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.
